Kids Behavior Problems – 3 Tips For Parents
Why do we have kids behavior problems? It is because they want attention. They very quickly learn the rules of the game whereby if good behavior does not get them what they want, bad behavior might! Very often, they are right and once bad behavior gets the desired results, then they are on a dangerous spiral and you, the parent will be sucked into that spiral.
Why do these kids want attention? It is NOT to get what they want – it is more subtle than that. Any attention shows them that they are loved and accepted!
Classic problems are where they spill their food and the natural consequence of that is that they go without! Be ready for the storm. The first tip is not to give in by giving them more food. Similarly, if they throw down a toy and break it in a tantrum, do not buy them a new one. These are natural consequences of their actions and they quickly learn to take responsibility for their behavior. It all comes down to accountability and that is key to kids behavior problems.
The second tip is how to deal with a temper tantrum. Make it clear that whining, crying and yelling are not a way to communicate. Walk away and if you are in public, take her outside.
The third tip is to take away privileges such as TV time or PC time if the kids toys and clothes are all over the place and your kid refuses to tidy them up. Rewards such as candy can be given for when the dirty clothes are put in the basket.
These are just some of the tips that help you to deal with kids behavior problems when you follow a child behavior program.
This program was written by one of America’s leading behavior therapists who himself was ran away from home as a kid and lived on the streets. He knows a few things about kids’ behavior problems!
